I'm having lunch with Dan Daugherty, a longtime Little Rock public relations figure who retired to Norfork in Baxter County. We're at a place with the interesting name of Heidi's Ugly Cakes & Sandwich Shop, and Dan tells me I have to have the Reuben. I'm not disappointed.
It's apparent that Daugherty is a regular here as he jokes with the employees. Florida native Heidi Price attended the University of Alabama with the intention of becoming a coach. She later married a Yellville native, Paul Price. A hurricane in 2004 destroyed their businesses on Dauphin Island in the Gulf of Mexico. Heidi had a cleaning service, and her husband was a fishing guide.
The couple moved to Baxter County, and Heidi began selling cakes in her mother-in-law's store.
