The more we think about it, the more we think that being shot would put us down for quite some time. Being tased might put some of us in bed for a month. But one Arkansas resident, best friend and public servant is getting ready to return to duty after being shot, not just once, but five times. Somebody give that dog a treat. Who’s a good dog?
It’s already miraculous our friend and protector has survived. But now Gabo is ready to get back to work. Here’s more from the paper this week:
“The Jonesboro Police Department said Gabo passed re-certification tests and returned to work with his handler where he’ll eventually return to detecting drugs and other patrol work.”
The spokesman for the Jonesboro Police Department called Gabo an “amazing animal.” Who could argue that? Take five shots in December and be begging for more work in February? Inside this officer beats the heart of a warrior. It seems Gabo surprised everyone with his high-speed recovery, even those closest to him. You just can’t keep a good dog down. And this dog is certainly a good dog. Yes he is!
More good news: It seems donors, inspired by this story, have ensured the Jonesboro Police Department now has bullet- and stab-proof vests for its dogs. Drug runners beware. Gabo will soon be back on your tail. So do yourselves a favor and turn yourselves in now.
