This poem was written as a class assignment by my 14-year-old great-granddaughter Courtney Davis.
As an Arkansas native, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and felt that your readers would enjoy it also:Decatur, AR
I’ve always loved Decatur.
Going swimming in the river,
and growing fresh vegetables,
and spending time with family,
in a quiet little town,
and knowing everyone,
and taking back roads,
and learning how to drive,
and getting to know your mom,
and not worrying about anything,
and going horseback riding,
and going to your very own church
with maybe 50 people
every Sunday.
Singing with the family church band,
and knowing you’re safe, not only
because you are with family,
but because you don’t live off a main highway.
