Louis Gene Hudgins, 85, of Rogers, was born December 4, 1937, in Clinton, Okla.; to Louis R. and Garnett Elaine Quaid Hudgins. He left this world at home, May 18, 2023, with his family and friends by his side. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Randy Hudgins; one step-grandson, Aaron Max Brown; one son-in-law, Douglas Vice; and one brother-law, Leo Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Barnett Hudgins, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Louie and Patrese Hudgins, of Rogers; two daughters, Tressia Marie Carr, of Little Rock; and Anita Jean Vice, of Houston, Texas; two step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Sheila and Scott Chastain, of Bauxite; and Michelle and Chris Frazier, of Rogers. He is also survived by five grandsons: Robert Hudgins, Timothy Carr, Louis Gene Hudgins, Dalton Hudgins, and Joel Hudgins; two granddaughters: Rebecca Carr, and Zoe Ricks; and two step-granddaughters, Samantha Kohle and Emily Frazier, four great-grandchildren, Lainey Kaye Hudgins, Randal James Hudgins, Robert Hudgins and Sophia Hudgins; one sister, Nancy Anderson; and one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Vicky Hudgins, as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Gene is also survived by the mother of his children Isabella Hudgins of Little Rock. Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and papa; and devoted to his church family and friends. He was a long-time member of Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers and really enjoyed the men's bible study. He also enjoyed the gatherings and fishing on Grand Lake. Gene was a graduate of Huntsville State Vocational School class of 1956. His first job was operating a cattle ranch and commercial egg farm, before moving to Texas to attend and graduate from Texas A&M. Gene was a pawn broker in Texas before moving to Arkansas in 1998 to be near his family and establishing Pawn USA in Rogers. The family will receive friends 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Brashears Funeral Home with Max Bowlin officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Hudgins, Timothy Carr, Louis Gene Hudgins, Zack Ricks, Jack Hudgins, and Doug Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Skaggs, Bruce Parker, Joe Stansell, Bill Graves, Charles Smith, Derald Hurt, Jeff Powell, and Jeremy Johnson. Interment will immediately follow services at Clifty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Gene and the family have requested memorial donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105; or the Clifty Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
