Bob Jones

Bob G. Jones, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at home. He was born Thursday, December 10, 1936, at Huntsville; to Harlie and Lugunia Williams Jones. Bob married Norma Kay McLoud on Saturday, September 15, 1956, at Springdale, and together they were parents to three children. His 21-year career as a police officer culminated in his retirement as Chief of Police for the Fayetteville Police Department. In addition to hunting quail and gardening, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. His love for Christ came before everything else, and he served as a deacon at Buckner Baptist Church. Bob never met a stranger, and was a great husband, dad, and "Poppie." Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, Wanda Drake, Angie Wright, Barbara Bowman, and Wendell Jones. He is survived by his wife, Kay Jones of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Brenda Jones, of Elkins; and Scott and Shannon Jones, of Hindsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mark Bridge, of Hindsville; four grandchildren, Savannah, Seth, Justin, and Brett;; six great-grandchildren, Grant, Logan, Cale, Matt, Teagan, Jhett; two special boys, Geo, and Juan; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Flo Jones, James and Sue Jones, and Denzil and Lynn Jones. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Buckner Baptist Church, Fayetteville, with Larry Mitchell and Bruce Smithson officiating. Pallbearers will be Grant Powell, Logan Powell, Seth Jones, Justin Jones, Brett Jones, Gary Powell, Mark Bridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Doke, Danny Donahou, Carl Baker, Bud Williams, Jerry Rogers, and Joe Fisher. Interment will immediately follow services at Alabam Cemetery, Huntsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bucker Baptist Church Building Fund, 2780 E. Wyman Road, Fayetteville, Ark., 72701. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
