Randy Charles Shumate

Randy Charles Shumate, passed away at his home in Springdale, Ark., on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Shumate. Randy was born November 11, 1949, in Fayetteville at Fayetteville City Hospital. He spent most of his life in Springdale and Rogers, living in Searcy, Arkansas, to receive a degree in Sociology from Harding University in 1971 where he met his wife, Kathy. He married Kathy Marcine Ennis in 1970 at the Church of Christ in Success, Arkansas. Randy and Kathy lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas, for a brief time before moving to Springdale. Randy was a partner in the Waggoner-Shumate Printing Company in Springdale from 1977 to 1997. He owned the Overhead Door Company in Rogers from 1997 to 1999, and later was a salesman with Sam's furniture and Hank's furniture where he was a sales award winner multiple times. He retired in 2017. Randy spent much of his life imparting his love of fishing, gardening, and craftsmanship on to his sons. He is survived by his mother, Ann Shumate; his wife, Kathy Shumate; his two brothers, Ken Shumate (Barbara) of Centerton, Arkansas, Kevin Shumate (Jana) of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; three sons, Aaron Shumate (Vicki) of Overland Park, Kansas, Noah Shumate (Sara) of Denver, Colorado, Jonah Shumate (Kelly) of McLean, Virginia; and his seven grandchildren. He will be interred at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, where a private service will be held. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home, heritageofnwa.com.
