Maxine Bowman Yates

Maxine Bowman Yates, born in Warren, Arkansas, on August 23, 1926, to Casper and Hattie (Castleberry) Bowman, and a long-term resident of both Hope and Fayetteville, passed away May 21, 2022, in Conroe, Texas. Maxine spent her childhood in Hermitage and Warren, graduating from Warren High School in 1946, before departing for Little Rock where she met and married Edward Yates. Together for 65 years, they poured their love into raising their children while living in 11 states. A devoted wife and mother, Maxine also worked in a variety of roles across a diverse range of industries, from accounting to communication systems to Cape Canaveral launches. With an easygoing nature and warm smile, Maxine enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, playing bridge, and supporting the Razorbacks. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sarah Yates; two sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by son, Micheal Yates (Sonya), Fayetteville; daughter, Candace McDaniel (Dudley), Santa Fe, NM; daughter, Barbara Yates, Montgomery, Texas; four grandchildren: Justin Yates, Lauren Yates, Kaye McDaniel, and Hunter McDaniel (Lauren); two great-grandchildren, Duncan and Sophie; and her sister, Jerrye Conto of Warren. A graveside ceremony in Bradley County, Arkansas, and a celebration of Maxine's life will be scheduled later this year.
