Ronald Dean Thompson

Ronald (Ron) Thompson, age 84, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away May 28, 2022, at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Ark. Ron was born June 27, 1937, in Elmore, Minn., to Hervie and Arlene Thompson. He had one brother and two sisters. After graduating from East Waterloo High School in 1955, Ron served four years in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, Ron joined The Viking Pump Company located in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He served Viking for many years as his career took him to Kansas, Mississippi, Maryland and Texas. He retired from Viking as the regional manager of the Dallas office. Ron and his wife, Carol, retired to Bella Vista over 25 years ago, where they enjoyed hosting friends and family. While in Bella Vista, Ron was able to pursue his love of golfing, as well as traveling to Iowa for the annual RAGBRAI bike ride. He enjoyed going on fishing trips with friends to Canada, Minnesota, and Oklahoma. He also enjoyed volunteering as a track official at The University of Arkansas for several seasons. Ron loved the Lord. He had a kind and gentle spirit, and he always saw the best in people. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; his two children, Randy (Jennifer) of Plano, Texas, and Lynn (Lain) Hancock of Aubrey, Texas; his three grandchildren, Ian Thompson of Plano, Texas, Dan (Kasen) Hancock of North Pole, Alaska, and Kelsey Hancock of Los Angeles, Calif.; and his sister, Sharlene (Jack) Waskow of Eagle River, Wis. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4th, at The Village Baptist Church, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista. Memorials can be made to Village Baptist Church.
