Ewan Davidson Lee

Ewan Davidson Lee was born in Clarendon, Ark., on February 28, 1951. Known as "Dave" to his family and friends, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters at his home in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 28, 2022. Dave spent his childhood in Clarendon and graduated from Clarendon High School in 1969. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, along with his twin brother, where he was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. It was at the U of A that Dave met the love of his life, Rhonda Carney. They were married on June 15, 1974, and moved back to his beloved hometown where they had three daughters and lived for almost 40 years. In 2014, Dave and Rhonda moved to Fayetteville to be closer to family in northwest Arkansas. Dave began his career as an Agricultural Sales Representative in 1974 with Eli Lilly, which later became Dow Chemical Co., and for 35 years traveled around eastern Arkansas, working with farmers and suppliers. He retired from Dow in 2009 and was then able to devote all this time to his second and favorite job, farming. He served on the Board of Directors for Merchants & Planters Bank in Clarendon, was President of the Clarendon Levee Board and President of the School Board at Marvell Academy for many years. An active member of Clarendon First United Methodist Church, Dave served as an usher and the Church Treasurer. In Fayetteville, he attended Central United Methodist Church and was a member of the Forum Sunday School Class. He also volunteered for the Beyond Our Walls events and the Community Meals team that served free lunch to those in need twice a week. Dave spent countless hours in the outdoors. He was as avid hunter and fisherman his entire life and loved sharing these hobbies with his sons-in-law, grandchildren and nephew, John Lee. Once he moved to Fayetteville, Dave became a regular at the soccer fields, cross country races, tennis matches, football games and baseball diamonds with his grandchildren and their friends. Dave was met in Heaven by his beloved family who preceded him death: his parents, William Mayo and Margaret Johnson Lee; his oldest brother, William Mayo Lee, Jr.; his older sister, Lynda Lee McKenzie; and his twin brother, John Perry Lee. He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Rhonda Carney Lee of Fayetteville, Ark., his daughters, Laura and Jason Landers of Fayetteville, Ark., Elizabeth and Bryce Landers of Cave Springs, Ark., and Mary Margaret and Weston Marcum of Austin, Texas, and his sister, Ann and John Drury of Clinton, Mo. In addition he leaves behind six grandchildren, Davidson Paine Landers, Lilly Frances Landers, Lee Clayton Landers, William Michael Landers, Gerald Ewan Marcum, and Madeline Claire Marcum; as well as two nieces, Allin Lee Edwards and Megan Lee Mills; and three nephews, John Perry Lee, Jr., Parker Lee Mills, and Harrison Lee Mills. A celebration of life service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon, Ark., on Thursday, June 2, at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in the Wesleyan Hall.
