Ronald "Ron" Dean Reed, 68, longtime Rogers resident and recently of Jonesboro passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022. He was born January 3, 1953, in Los Angeles, Calif., to the late Earl and Ann King Reed, and preceded by his brother, Jerry Barnett. At Rogers High School he was an All-State football standout and years later, inducted into the Rogers Sports Hall of Fame. Ron continued his education and outstanding football career at NE Oklahoma Jr. College and then Southeast Missouri State University. He was an All-American at both schools. After coaching football at Rogers and Harrison, Mr. Reed then enjoyed a 27-year career with Walmart and other entrepreneurial endeavors! He enjoyed boating, fishing, golf, helping his son in business and coaching as well as watching Gunsmoke on TV. However, he cherished the time shared with his family, friends, and those he mentored. He will be remembered for his ability to inspire others to greatness with balance, fun, discipline and priority in their lives. Survivors include two daughters, Kristyn (Levi) Lawson and Bailey Reed of Rogers; his son, Beau (Jessica) Reed of Jonesboro; Rick Hogle and Ryan Evenson who he loved as though they were his own children; three grandchildren, Kamryn and Ciera Lawson of Rogers, and Noah Reed of Jonesboro; numerous extended family members, Walmart associates and dear friends. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, in the Chapel of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. A committal service will be held in Rogers Cemetery, and celebration of life at 2 p.m. at The Moose Lodge, Saturday, January 8th.
