Lynette Elizabeth Hess, 67, of Springdale, died Wednesday morning, February 16, 2022, at home, after suffering with complications due to Covid-19. She was born February 9, 1955, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Albert B. and Gladys M. Harlan Hess. She spent her childhood in Arkansas, where many of her relatives lived. After moving to Columbia, Missouri, she graduated from David H. Hickman High School in 1972. Her passion for education came during her studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she received a B.S. degree in Education, with a minor in Spanish in 1976. After teaching Spanish in Missouri, she completed her Master's degree in Educational Counseling and Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981. She then served as School Counselor in Oklahoma. She finished her educational career as School Counselor in the Dallas, Texas area. After retiring, she moved to Springdale to be closer to family and was able to serve there as School Counselor for a number of years. Her training led to a dedication in children's education and a desire to write books for small children. Her first book came out in 2019, "Keeping My Balance" and the second in 2020, "Knowing What's Right." She also had a marvelous talent for music and a beautiful voice and used this talent with the Tulsa, Oklahoma Sweet Adelines for several years. She loved animals and had several wonderful cats and dogs, her latest was Mickey. Lynette received much friendship and support from a small community group that is connected with New Heights Church in Fayetteville and recently became an active member of the Springdale Kiwanis Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Gladys Hess. She is survived by a sister, Dena (Ken) Kroll of Ozark, Missouri; brothers, Daryl (Ginger) Hickman of Springdale, Rex (Sue) Hess of Champaign, Illinois; nieces, Shannon Hess (Brian) Larson of San Luis Obispo, California, Brittney Hickman of Springdale, Misty (Kris) May of Columbia, Missouri; nephews, Ryan (Carrie) Hess of Cary, North Carolina, Kyle (Grace) Kroll of Columbia, Missouri, Steven (Aquis) Kroll of Missouri City, Texas; and numerous cousins, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
