Georgia L. (McCoy) Thompson, 87, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born October 12, 1934, in Rose, Okla. to Lybetha Jean (Barton) and Jackson Bruce McCoy. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Gene H. Thompson; one grandson, Tanner Thompson Shuck; her only sibling, Ollen W. McCoy; and nephew, Ollen Glen McCoy. Georgia was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Springdale, where she was active in several areas. She was a lifetime member of Northwest Medical Auxiliary, SHS Alumni Association, PTA and Beta Sigma Phi. She served on the board of the ACO, District Cancer Association, was a member of the NARTI Auxiliary, was a member of the PEO Sisterhood-Chapter CM and was a volunteer for Hospice Circle of Life. She is survived by one son, Steven Gene Thompson and wife Liz of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Tami Jo Ann Strickland and husband Charlie of Springdale, and Karen Kay Thompson; and chosen daughter, Cheryl Kay Duncan of Springdale; one nephew, Jim McCoy and his wife Sandra of Springdale; one brother-in-law, Jack L. Thompson and wife Rumi of Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law, Vicki L. Baab and husband Bill of Dallas, Texas, and Glenna M. Thompson of Springdale; several nieces and nephews and many special friends, including a high school group known as the Dirty Dozen. Memorial service will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Springdale with Pastor Andrew Thompson and Pastor Jen Ryerson officiating.
