Judith Anne May, born on May 11, 1941, left this earth on August 24, 2022, after battling emphysema and COPD for thirty years. Judith was born in Dallas, Texas, to Kathryn and Mickey Trammell. She was raised and loved by her stepfather, Ralph Metcalf. She came to know and love her stepmother, Martha Trammell as an adult. Judith was born a caregiver. She was very compassionate and caring and dedicated her life to helping others. She and her husband, Kent May, started a transitional foster home for children in need in Rogers, Ark., called "Our Farm". Our Farm provided love, security, and a home to countless children. Kent and Judy served as the house parents for almost two years and adopted or fostered five of the children. With already having four biological children, they moved into what would be the family home to this day with nine children. Judy set a wonderful example to her family that anything is attainable. Even with several children at varying ages at home, Judy went to the University of AR. and got her nursing degree with honors. At the age of fifty, she continued her schooling to become a nurse practitioner (NP), specializing in women's health. She was both an exceptional nurse and NP who loved, cared and advocated for her patients. Her caregiving did not end when she retired from her professional career. She took loving care of her ailing mother in Texas for months until she passed. She did the same again, when her stepfather was failing. She did this without question and at great sacrifice, being separated from her husband and family in Ark. Her greatest act of love and compassion came the last few years of her life. Even though struggling daily from the cruel symptoms of Stage 4 COPD, Judith gave the absolute best care possible to the love of her life, her husband of 61 years. He did the same in kind. Her favorite things to do were spending time with her family and friends, gardening, taking cruises with her handsome man, dancing, cooking, and playing cards and games. She is preceded in death by her daughters, Ella Pierson and Laura May, her mother, Kathryn Metcalf, her stepfather, Ralph Metcalf, her sister, Mary Kay Metcalf, and her grandson, Joshua Pierson. Judith is survived by her loving husband, Kent May, children, Kevin May, Kathy Carmody, and Rachel Adair, fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandbabies, and brothers and sister-in-law, John and Cora (Coulson) Metcalf and Steve Metcalf. Visitation and funeral will be held Friday, August 26, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home located at 605 W. Central Ave, Bentonville, Ark. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m,. The service will be at 1 p.m. with graveside services at the Catholic Cemetery to follow. If so moved, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in honor of Judith May.
