James Ronald (Ronnie) McFee, 76, of Huntsville passed away Monday, August 8, 2022, at his home. He was born Friday, October 12, 1945, at Witter to John Andrew and Rosa Frances Hooper McFee. Ronnie was one of the kindest men you will ever meet. There wasn't a thing he wouldn't do for someone in need. That's who he was. He read his Bible daily and tried hard to live by the words he read. In high school, Ronnie boxed some and played baseball. Ronnie married LaVera Bolinger on Friday, June 2, 1967, in Huntsville at her parents' home, and together they were parents to two children. As a funeral director at Brashears Funeral Home, Ronnie served countless families in the community prior to his retirement in 2018; after 50 years of dedicated service. Well-known for his famous handlebar mustache, he loved working with people and loved the Brashears' family dearly. They treated him, and his family, like their very own, for which he was very thankful. In 1978, Ronnie started the Huntsville Alcoholics Anonymous group and was very active throughout his 44 years of sobriety. He helped many people in the community to experience a better life through his counsel. They were always welcome at the McFee home. There was always extra food prepared, just in case. For example, Thanksgiving dinner was open to anyone in need, and he hosted a barbecue every fall for the people in the program. Music, singing, playing the guitar, and especially fishing with his wife, were among Ronnie's favorite activities. Ronnie's greatest love, however, was his family. He enjoyed laughing and sharing special moments with them. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosa McFee; and one brother, Norman Kay McFee. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, LaVera McFee, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Frank Remson of Huntsville, and Crystal and Terry Anderson of Decatur; three grandchildren, Kayla and Nick Ledbetter of Alva, Okla., Camden Williams of Kansas City, Kan., and Landon Anderson of Decatur; four step-grandchildren, Amanda and Landon Bolinger of Prairie Grove, Kimberly Remson, of Rogers, Courtney Remson, of Prairie Grove, and Frankie Remson of Prairie Grove; and one step-great-grandchild, Carsen Bolinger of Prairie Grove. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the funeral home with Doug Sloan officiating. Pallbearers will be Doug Sloan, Nick Ledbetter, Randy Shinn, Kent Cotton, and Chuck Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Morris, David Duncan, Sumner Brashears, and Stacy Easterling. Interment will immediately follow services at Witter Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
