Imodean Floyd

Imodean Floyd, age 96, entered in to rest August 9th, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born on November 18, 1925, to Tommy and Estie (Herron) Shelton in Franklin, Ark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ethrig Floyd. Imodean is survived by her brother, John Shelton; five children, Jerry Floyd, James (Kim) Floyd, Louise (Bill) Williams, Rose (Bob) Catalano, and Janet (Chris) Collins; six grandchildren, Alan (Missy) Floyd, Chad (Sarah) Bookout, Brad (Trina) Bookout, Dustin Morris, Jennifer (Eddy) Carmona, and Luke (Tori) Loyd; along with two great-grandchildren, Cole and Dylan Bookout; five step-grandchildren, Allyson (Wade) Luethy, Jordan Sample, Jennifer (Don) Trotter, Laura Fowler, Lisa (Wes) Lehman; 10 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Imodean was an active member of the Extension Homemakers Club for 69 years, where she mentored young wives and mothers. She was treasurer of the Roberts Cemetery for more than three decades. Imodean was a 4-H leader for over 20 years, pre-school Sunday school, and vacation Bible school teacher for 25 years, for 65 years church kitchen committee, member of WMU, and The Quilting Ladies at Franklin Baptist Church. She loved gardening and growing fresh vegetables, cross-stitching, sewing, embroidery, cooking, canning, and little babies. Imodean lived in Franklin her entire life. She grew up during the Depression time and spoke often of how hard times were. She loved to share her memories of growing up and was always eager to share her life skills. She liked to teach others to cook and make jelly and relishes. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, August 11th, 5-7 p.m. at Doty Family Funeral & Memorial Service Chapel in Horseshoe Bend. Funeral services will be held at the Doty Family Funeral & Memorial Service Chapel on Friday, August 12th at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Violet Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Violet Hill Cemetery or Roberts Cemetery, c/o Louise Williams, 608 W. 1st St., Franklin, Ark. 72536.
