Archie Ober, 89, passed away August 1, 2022, peacefully surrounded by both of his sons. Archie was born to Henry and Lettie Ober in Swain, Arkansas, on April 21, 1933. He graduated from Deer High School in 1951. After serving in the Army for two years he married Elizabeth Sue Shelton on June 15, 1956. They spent the next 50 years in the Springdale Arkansas area where they had two sons. Archie had worked as a mechanic in the Army and transferred those skills in civilian life to be an auto mechanic where he exceled and with time and training became an auto mechanics instructor at Northwest Arkansas Vo-Tech, now known as Northwest Technical Institute. There he was able to impact the lives of hundreds of students. Archie loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies and he enjoyed both especially with his family and friends. In 2017 Archie and Sue moved to Tulsa. He was a member of Boston United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lettie Ober; sisters, Charlene and Nadine Clark; brother, J.D. Ober. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sue; brother, Carol Ober; sons, Michael and Mitchell Ober; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 5, at Stanleys Funeral Home in Tulsa, Okla. A Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 6, at Union Hill Cemetery in Parthenon, Ark. www.stanleysfuneralhome.com
