Charles Richard (Dick) Maple, age 91, of Fayetteville passed away Friday June 18, 2021. He was born March 31, 1930, in San Gabriel, Calif., to Joseph and Florence Maple. He is survived by his wife, Alexandria Saha Maple. Dick had four children (Rick, Marilyn, Rob and Karen); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all residing in Colorado. Dick lived life to the fullest. He served in the Korean War as well as in Vietnam. He flew for Pan American Airlines; Air America; Continental Air Service; Kwajalein Missile Range; Iran Air; and Inland Empire Airlines. He was a flight instructor, instrument, ground school, FAA check pilot, and when he could no longer fly, he worked at TRW Missile and Space Division. He had many stories to tell about his life and those stories were enjoyed by all those who would listen. He was quite the talker and so very interesting. He was a Master Mason and a Shriner; one-time owner of Kona Prescription Pharmacy and Mauna Kea Air Service. He held two patents: one was a medical pill counter, and the other for a travel luggage enhancement. Overall a great life and he often said that God's most precious gift to mankind was love. As a recipient of that love, as his wife, I was blessed. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday July 2, 2021, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to The Shriners Hospital- https://donate.lovetotherescue.org To place an online tribute please visit www.bernafuneralhomes.com
