Harvey Leal Thomas

Mr. Harvey Leal Thomas, age 86, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born November 16, 1934, in Bronson, Kansas, to Floyd Arthur and Alice May Bowles Thomas. In high school Harvey was an outstanding athlete and lettered in three sports. Harvey graduated from Bronson, Kansas High School in 1952. Harvey married his High School sweetheart, Marjorie Stewart in 1952. They had their own farm in Bronson, Kansas, and had three daughter in the following years. Harvey attended Wichita Tech and Decry University and lived in the San Jose, California, area three times. Mr. Thomas retired from IBM and AMDAHL as Director of Computer Field Services. He spent 33 years in the computer industry and he and Marjorie raised their three daughters in Tulsa, OK. After retirement at the age of 55, he built log homes in Northwest Arkansas, traveled by RV and visited most of the states. He also sold insurance for seniors for eleven years in Northwest Arkansas. Harvey also enjoyed boating and skiing on Grand Lake and Beaver Lake. He loved his many RV's and boats. The Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks were his favorite sports teams. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 37 years, Majorie Stewart Thomas, daughters, Patricia Thomas Fields and Cheryl Thomas Ruckert, sisters, Helen Thomas Wilson and Wanda Thomas Fouts. Mr. Thomas was survived by his wife, Janet Allen Williams Thomas whom he married in 1991, of Bentonville, Arkansas; daughter, Rhonda Thomas Winters and husband Bob of Tulsa, Okla.; granddaughter, Amber N Winters, Lindsey Fields Crosby and husband Jeremy of Buhler, Kansas; sister, Eula Thomas Henderson of Arlington, Kansas. Step sons, Jason Williams and his daughter Calla of Seattle, Washington, Jon M. Williams and wife Judy and their son Jackson of Johnson, Arkansas, Justin D. Williams and wife Julia and their child Sierra of Rogers, Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to leave a special thanks to his caregiver Melissa Chewy and Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. Harvey was a two time cancer survivor, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society. A get together will follow at a later date due to Covid-19 and travel times for the family.
