Ruth Elizabeth Hermann

Ruth Elizabeth Hermann, 93, of Rogers, Ark., passed away peacefully Friday, September 18, 2020, with her daughter, Paula, and son, Chris, at her side. She was born in Lenexa, Kan., August 28, 1927, to Walter and Elsie (Boehm) Scherman. Ruth met her future husband, Paul William Hermann, at a church picnic. They were married July 7, 1946, two weeks after Paul's discharge from the U.S. Navy, and had a loving 66 year marriage until Paul's death in 2012. Together, Ruth and Paul raised eight children. As a homemaker, Ruth tended to her children, and was an excellent cook and seamstress; always putting her children's needs over her own. She was known for her legendary pies, cinnamon rolls, pizza, and ice cream. She enjoyed knitting afghans and sweaters for her children and grandchildren. Paul and Ruth lived their faith every day as devout Roman Catholics. Ruth taught religious education classes and was a member of the Women's Altar Society. She made sure her children attended weekly mass reinforcing her faith to them. Paul and Ruth became members of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Paul and Ruth lived in Kansas City, Kan., before moving in 1968 to Eldon, Mo., where they purchased a grocery store and named it Paul's Supermarket. They lived at Lake of the Ozarks before retiring to Naples, Fla. In 2016 Ruth moved to Rogers, Ark. and lived with her daughter Paula and son-in-law, Allan. Ruth is survived by eight children, Rebecca Essig (Jim, deceased) of Round Rock, Texas; Dan (Cher) of Jefferson City, Mo.; Gary (Judy) of Naples, Fla.; Paula Bates (Allan) of Rogers, Ark.; Chris of Lake Ozark, Mo.; Bridget Menke (Dale) of St. Louis, Mo.; Pat of Gilroy, Calif.; Marcella Wynne (John) of Mill Valley, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul, her parents; and nine brothers and sisters. Memorial service will be September 24, 2020, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake Ozark, Mo. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 146 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.
