John William Russell, age 72, of Rogers died Monday, May 18, 2020 at Washington Regional Medical Center located in Fayetteville. He was born February 13, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Ruth Irene Miller and James Matthew Russell. John is a Christian and loves the Lord above all. He was a gifted researcher and data enthusiast. Showing steers and sows for FFA shows was a big part of his Oklahoma childhood. He eventually turned his passions and interests into a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. This is where he met the love of his life, Linda. When he wasn't working as a metallurgist in the weapons division of the Los Alamos National Scientific Laboratory, he and Linda enjoyed skiing and hiking. He had an incredible work ethic which inspired all 3 of his children. He was a proud father with an acute awareness in investing in the future generation. He couldn't wait to give advice on topics like economics and politics. In his most recent years, his fofur grandchildren brought a beaming smile to his face. John had a firm understanding of what was truly important - living a life of simplicity with God at the center surrounded by those you love. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret Russell and Alice Russell Berkenbile. John is survived by: his wife; Linda Russell, of Rogers, one son; Chad Russell and his wife Erica, of Conway, two daughters; Tiana Russell, of Little Rock, Tonya Amani and her husband Chris, of Walnut Creek, California, three siblings; Ruth Ann Burton and her husband Carl, of New York, Jim Russell and his wife Marie, of Oklahoma, Joe Russell and his wife Verletta, of Oklahoma, and four grandchildren, Henleigh (9), Malick (3.5), Ben (3), Kai (2). Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at First Baptist Rogers, located at the Pleasant Grove Campus. A celebration of John's life will be: Thursday at 11am at First Baptist Rogers, located at the Pleasant Grove Campus.
