Freda "Freddie" Greathouse Brinson

Freda "Freddie" Greathouse Brinson, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2020. She was born in Springfield, Mo., April 30, 1927 to Robert A. and Elva Burke Greathouse. She and her family moved to Fayetteville, Ark. when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended the University of Arkansas for one year. In December of 1946, while she was on a coffee break at the Blue Mill Café on Block Street in Fayetteville, she was introduced to Pat Brinson. He asked her out for a date and they married six weeks later on February 7, 1947. Pat was given a Regular Commission in the Air Force when he graduated from the University of Arkansas. They traveled the world together with stations in Germany, Japan, and the United States. Pat retired from the Air Force and they settled in Gainesville, Ga., then San Antonio, Texas, and finally came back home to Fayetteville. Freddie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elva Greathouse, her husband, Lt. Col. Pat D. Brinson, her brother, Robert Greathouse, and her sister, Joan Greathouse Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Brinson Russell, her son, Gary Brinson and his wife Sandy, and her only grandchild, Erin Russell Janes and her husband Nathan Janes all of Fayetteville. A private family service will be held at Moore's Chapel with committal at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
