Eula Mae Duncan

Eula Mae Duncan passed away May 3, 2020 at her home in Gravette, Arkansas after a brief illness. She was born May 24, 1924 in Hiwasse, Arkansas. Eula was a loving daughter to Wille and Ruth Duncan, a loving sister to Maxine Duncan Roberts (Marion) an Imo Jean Duncan Douglas (Gene) and a devoted "Aunt Mae" to her nieces and nephews and their children. After high school, Eula attended Business College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During WWII she worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft as a clerk typist in their photo department where photos were developed showing the stages of plane development. She later went to work for Public Service of Oklahoma where she worked her way up to the secretary to the president of the company. She retired in 1990 and remained in Tulsa until recently when she returned home to Gravette. Eula was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed college and professional baseball, football, and basketball, as well as golf on TV. She also took advantage of opportunities to attend many OU football games and professional baseball games in St. Louis, Boston, and New York; and basketball in Arizona. She belonged to a bowling group and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tulsa where she regularly attended worship services, Sunday School and women's study groups. Eula liked to travel, both regionally and nationally, taking advantage of locations where her family lived. She traveled to New York, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Arizona, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Oregon, California, and Washington. She enjoyed visiting good friends in Rockport, Maine. Eula also traveled to Cuba, Canada, Mexico and Nova Scotia, as well as Europe. Eula was predeceased by her parents, sisters and niece, Jeanette Roberts West and great-nephew, Ruston Roberts. She is survived by 6 nieces and nephews; Brenda Douglas Herbaugh (Larry), David Douglas (Stacey), Ronnie Douglas, Stephen Douglas (Penny), Nelson Roberts, and Harold (Bo) Roberts (Stella); 21 great-nieces and nephews, 20 great-great-nieces and nephews, four great-great-great-nieces and nephews plus numerous cousins and friends. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 8th, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
