Clara Dean (Wilson) Ramey, 90, of Fayetteville, entered into the presence of the Lord on March 2, 2020. Clara was born in Porterville, California, to Noid and Edna Wilson on May 28, 1929. She married James Marion Ramey in April of 1948 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. James and Clara moved to Dallas, Texas in the 1950s where they raised their children. During their years in Texas, Clara worked as a hairstylist, at Texas Instruments and at Sanger Harris Department store. Upon James and Clara's return to Arkansas in 1979, they built their house on land in Habberton near Goshen which was settled by Clara's ancestors in the 1850s. Clara resided on that property near a number of extended family members until the time of her death. After returning to Fayetteville, Clara was a bus driver for Fayetteville schools for more than 20 years. She was a member of Northeast Baptist Church in Fayetteville where she helped with the church's food pantry. She was also a longtime member of the Habberton Home Extension Club. Clara had many hobbies and talents including bowling, water skiing, fishing and camping with family and friends in the 1950s-1970s. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker. Clara was an avid gardener and had quite the green thumb. She maintained large vegetable and flower gardens and was particularly successful at growing irises, daffodils and peonies. Many people will remember Clara for never having met a stranger, and she was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family. Clara is preceded in death by her husband James; her parents, Noid and Edna Wilson; and her sister, Coleene Partain. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Glenn Brown; her son, James Ramey; her brother, James Wilson; her grandchildren, Byron (Amanda) Ramey, Sarah (Toby) Stunkard and Allison (Brian) McFarland. She is also survived and beloved by eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives too numerous to list. Jimmy and Brenda want to especially thank Nancy Canoy (niece) for years of her love, compassion, support and friendship to Clara. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at Beard's Funeral Chapel, 855 S. Happy Hollow Road, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Following a private graveside service, a memorial service open to all will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Beard's Funeral Chapel.
