Don Springston

Don Springston, 93, passed away peacefully July 13, 2020. Don was born Feb. 10, 1927, the fifth child of Arthur and Edith Springston. As a young man, Don served in the U.S. Army during WWII, training as a mechanic. A love of tinkering and restoring machinery remained throughout his life. Don married Thelma Phillips on Feb. 23, 1948. This union produced two sons and 71 years of love and companionship. They shared a love of nature and outdoor activities. Together enjoying many camping trips, hunting, fishing and exploring. Don lived his life young at heart and was happiest surrounded by children. To those grandchildren he gave his love of woods and wildlife, nature and outdoors. Funny and kind, generous and patient as a grandparent he shined. Our Papaw we will miss. He is survived by one son, four adoring grandchildren along with their spouses and six much loved great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Elm Springs Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Graham. No visitation is planned. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com
