Garland Dawson Nipps, 95, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord July 7, 2020. He was born in Vian, Oklahoma November 8, 1924 to Charlie Dawson Nipps and Dessie Eugenia Miller Nipps. The family moved to Lonoke county after the flood of 1927. Garland was in the U.S. Army serving in WWII in Europe. He was an early Lonoke County rice farmer, once Papa Nipps agreed. He preferred to have fun with family and friends, but was not picky. He enjoyed coffee and cigarettes and camaraderie at the City Cafe and he liked to play golf at the England Country Club. He went to church at the Rose City Church of Christ, and the Mabelvale Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Hazel May Watson Nipps; two brothers: Johnny Ely Nipps and Nathan Franklin Nipps and two sisters: Lora Eugenia Nipps Stewart and Lois Rebecca Nipps Dean. He is survived by one daughter: Cynthia Catherine Nipps Wilkerson of Benton; a son-in-law: Larry Wayne Wilkerson of Bryant; two grandchildren: Michael Justin Wilkerson of Bryant; Anna Katherine Wilkerson Ross (Brent) of Benton and great-granddaughter: Everly Hazel Ross of Benton and step-great-grandson: Brody Charles Ross of Benton and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Services will be Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Roller England Funeral Home Chapel, (501) 842-3939. Burial will follow at Mulberry Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 10, from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Dean, Jr., Joseph Dean, Dustin Dean, Ronny Dean, Russ Dean, Robert Scott, Jimmy Nipps and Gene Kinsey. We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funerals to 75 and visitation attendance to 50 people at one time.
