Lonnie Trent

Lonnie Trent, 76, of Elkins and formerly Fallon, Nevada passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at his home. He was born April 6, 1943 in Silver City, New Mexico to the late Marion "Slim" Trent and Wanda Frasier Trent. Lonnie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandra King Trent, his son Lonnie "Dean" Trent of Burns, and two grandchildren, Alex and Taylor Trent of Oregon, his brother Marvin Trent of Pasadena Texas, his sister Helen "Dusty" Tent of Jerome Idaho, and four nephews. Lonnie especially enjoyed spending time with neighbors Denise and Allen Dodson. He also loved his 4 cats and most of the dogs. Lonnie managed a flea market at the age of 13. He traveled with his father to various rodeos and sometimes participated in cutting horse events with Slims horse, the legendary Sandhill Charlie, when his father was injured. Lonnie was an accomplished singer and musician and went on to play lead guitar and sing with the Range Men throughout Nevada and Alaska. He, along with his wife, Sandra, owned the 525 Club in Houston, Texas for 10 years. His final career was a reporter and opinion columnist for the White River Valley News, which served several towns outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Additionally, he wrote two books, one of which was published: "Closets of Science." Services will be held Sunday, February 23, 2020 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. with a funeral service at 3 p.m. with Roy Causbie officiating. Burial will follow in Upshaw Cemetery.
