Leona Maxine Harmon

Leona Maxine Harmon, 95, died Monday, February 10, 2020, at her home in Hindsville surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 7, 1924, in War Eagle to Marion Francis and Cora George Vaughn. Leona was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In her early years she worked as a hairdresser until she and her husband Kenneth moved to the Spring Valley area where they raised chickens and cattle for the rest of their lives. Leona enjoyed attending stock car races and traveling. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Green; one grandson, Jeff Fitch and wife Kari; one great-grandson, Ledger Fitch; one great-granddaughter, Lively Fitch; four step-grandchildren, Jared Green (Stephanie), Jenna Dickey (David), Jill Brightwell (David), and Jaime Green; six step-great-grandchildren, Jack, Rollin, Remington, Arabella, Beckett, and Dean; one sister, Madyline McGarrah; and three brothers, Allen Vaughn, Wiley Vaughn, and Sam Vaughn. Leona was preceded by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Harmon; one grandson, Jonathan Stuart Fitch II; and one brother, Raymond Vaughn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth Richardson Center, 2190 S. Razorback Road, Fayetteville. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 13, at Heritage Funeral Home chapel.
