Carl L. Mayes

Carl L. Mayes, 87, of Cane Hill, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Born September 5, 1933 in Goshen to Kendall and Bessie Mayes, Carl was a truck driver for Walmart for 38 years and was active in charitable fundraising for the Children's Miracle Network. One of his more successful fundraising drives was the creation and sale of "What would Sam do?" buttons. Carl served in the United States Army during the Korean war. In his spare time, he liked working on cars. Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Dolly Kay Mayes, his son Mitchell Mayes, one grandchild, his brother Donald Mayes, and his sister Peggy Wilson. He is survived by four daughters, Jessamyn Goodwin of West Fork, Ellen Mayes of Elkins, Melody Mayes of Fayetteville, and Peri Mayes of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Bobby Preston Mayes of Paradise, Montana and Larry Mayes of Fayetteville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
