Jack Tarter, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away, Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Circle of Life, Legacy Village in Bentonville, Ark. He was born August 27, 1933 in Dry Prong, La., to Reginald and Vivian (Arrington) Tarter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Geraldine and Betty, and two grandsons, David and Doug Tarter. Jack married his high-school sweetheart in 1954, while both were college students. Together, they continued to work their way through college and both earned bachelor degrees. The marriage of 66 years produced four sons. He was a member of Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista. He was a corporate tax accountant and worked his entire 39 year career with United Gas Corporation and Southwestern Electric Power Company. He retired in 1994 as manager of tax and property accounting. He also retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a LTC with 28 years of commissioned service. He is survived by his wife, Lois; four sons, Stan and wife, Barbara, Randy and wife, Joyce, Thomas and wife, Debbie and Joseph and wife, Emily; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; and one brother, Don. He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville. Memorials may be made in memory of Jack Tarter to Village Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
