Ruth Raye DeShields

Helen Raye DeShields, 87, of Bentonville passed away Monday, July 29, 2019. Mrs. DeShields was born February 21, 1932 in Lead Hill, Arkansas to the late Amos McKinley Clarkson and Maude Irene Stinnett Clarkson. Helen was also preceded by two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, John DeShields; her children, Lori Hale (Tim) and Gary DeShields (Joyce) both of Bentonville; two granddaughters, Jennifer DeShields of Bella Vista and Erin Holder (Joshua) of Rogers; a grandson, Joshua DeShields (Sarah) of Bentonville; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, John, Destinee, Emilia and Olivia; a sister, Wanda Akins of Bentonville; a brother, Jimmy Clarkson (Imogene) of Bergman; numerous extended family members and dear friends. Helen loved taking care of her family! Whether it be cooking an amazing meal or babysitting, she loved and took care of her family. She also enjoyed gardening, being involved in Hope Church, where she was a member, reading her Bible and in earlier years, camping. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Hope Church, 1700 SE Moberly Lane in Bentonville with interment to follow in Bentonville Cemetery.
