Lyle Virden Shelor, age 77, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed on Saturday, October 13. He was born to Virden and Mildred Shelor in Quincy, Illinois on August 23, 1941. His wife and best friend Nancy J. Shelor of Fayetteville, Ark. survives along with three children and their spouses; Kent and Jill Shelor, of Rogers, Ark., Karla (Shelor) Losey and Carl Losey of Chillicothe, Ill., and Kurt and MaryJo Shelor of Oglesby, Ill.; a stepson, Larry Maas of Lombard, Illinois, and a stepdaughter, Lara (Maas) Shadwick and Phillip Shadwick of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and their spouses; Andrew and Casey Shelor of Rogers, Ark., Kelsey (Losey) and Chandler Birch of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alex and Brooklynn Shelor of Springdale, Ark., Cassidy (Losey) and Kyle Salsbery of Marshfield, Wis., Ellie Shadwick of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Colt Shadwick of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. His older brother Fred L. Shelor and wife Jean of Omaha, Neb. survive him. His parents Virden and Mildred Shelor preceded him in death. Lyle's early years were spent in Quincy, Ill. attending Jackson and Berrian Grade Schools where lifetime friendships were made. Lyle attended Quincy High School. During high school he participated in many vocal music programs held by the QHS music department. Lyle was also a member of the Quincy Trojans traveling Drum and Bugle Corp and competition color guard. The Trojans and their color guard traveled to compete around the country. After high school, Lyle attended the University of Omaha before returning to Quincy to begin a career with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. In 1961 Lyle met and married Linda Sigmon. They were married for 23 years, having Kent, Karla and Kurt join their family. In 1973 a career change was made, and Lyle spent the next 45 years in the shopping center and commercial real estate business. During this time, Lyle was a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers serving as a member of the International Convention and other committees. He attended Northwestern University Executive Development. Lyle received a degree in management from Illinois Valley Community College while teaching classes in small business management and marketing. In 1990 Lyle met his best friend, soul mate and future wife Nancy at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Naperville, Illinois. In 1993 Lyle and Nancy married, living in Naperville until 2004 when a career opportunity took them to Rogers, Arkansas. In 2005 with Nancy's support Lyle opened Commercial Realty Investors. The company focused on service to out of state property owners needing development, management and leasing expertise for their properties in Arkansas and nearby states. 2013 brought complete retirement, time for golf, fun with family and cruising, Lyle and Nancy's favorite way to travel. Throughout Lyle's life he was involved in masonic organizations. At the age of 14 Lyle became a member of the Order of DeMolay where he was a very active member. Over the next several years Lyle held offices in the Quincy Chapter, serving on several committees. Lyle was awarded the highest degree an active or a Senior DeMolay can be given, The Order of Chevalier. Lyle became a Master Mason in November 1963. Over the next several years Lyle held many offices and was elected to serve the lodge as it's Master in 1969. Later Lyle would become a York Rite Mason, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. In 2010, the Royal Order of Scotland invited Lyle to membership and to be Knighted into the Order, thereafter to be known as Sir Lyle Integrity. In 2009 Lyle became a member of Scimitar Shriners, a part of Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Lyle was active in raising funds for the hospitals and took a leadership role in Scimitar Temple. In 2015, the membership of Scimitar elected Lyle to serve as their Potentate. Lyle was a Christian and Member of First Christian Church in Rogers. Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted by grade school friend and DDGM of Oklahoma Richard Heelan and assisted by Ronald Griep another lifelong friend and Mason. Masonic Services will be conducted during memorial services 1 p.m. Saturday October 27, 2018 at First Christian Church in Rogers under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
