Leetha Mayes Washburn Lee

Leetha Mayes Washburn Lee was born February 28, 1933 to Edwin Milo and Maggie Mayes Washburn at home on Holcomb Street in Springdale, Arkansas. She graduated from Springdale High School in 1950. She married Robert Earl Lee on April 20, 1956. She started working as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fayetteville on July 28, 1950. She later was a Service Representative in Fayetteville and Springdale. She retired in October of 1981. She was a member of Cross Church formerly First Baptist Church in Springdale where she had helped in the benevolence, she was on a counting team and had helped with children's choir. She loved to paint, carve, crochet, work crossword puzzles, read and travel to Orange Beach, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harvey Washburn; one sister, Willie Wilbanks Dotson and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Leone Lee. Survivors include her husband, Robert Earl (Bob) Lee of the home; one brother, John Washburn and wife Jeaneane of Springdale; nieces, Mary Anne Coleman of Portland Oregon, Ellen Gunderson of Portland, Oregon, Deborah Washburn of Springdale: nephews, Greg Washburn, Brian Lee, Darrin Lee all of Springdale and Neill A. (Buddy) Wilbanks of Enid, Oklahoma; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Sue Lee, J.C. and Esther Parson, Muriel Murrell. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. in chapel at Cross Church Springdale with Charlie Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery in Springdale. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.
