Darrell Layne Seward

Darrell Layne Seward, age 63, of Maumelle, Arkansas passed away peacefully on November 27, 2018 with his wife and family by his side. He was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on April 4, 1955 to his late parents, Lawrence Samuel and Jane Joyce Ogden Seward. Darrell was retired from the Little Rock School District after teaching, coaching and mentoring young athletes for more than 40 years. As a student, he attended Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas (1969-70), C.E. Donart High School in Stillwater, Okla. (1970-73), Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark. (1973-77) and the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. Darrell was a member of the Arkansas High School Coaches Association, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Arkansas Football Coaches Association (ARFCA). In addition, he was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and was a man that loved the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Seward; one son, Jeffrey Landers; one brother, Michael Seward (Bo) and their children, Jeremy and Jordan; one sister, Cindy Seward; mother and father-n-law, Lamar and Linda Lester; two sisters-in-law, Lyric Lester and Maria Wild and his long-time best friend, Ron Smith. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. James United Methodist Church with Reverends Carness Vaughn, Greg Schick and his best friend, Larry Siegel officiating with a reception to follow. A private burial will be at Riverwood Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Rock Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Pulaski County Humane Society, Women and Children First (The Center Against Family Violence), and St. James United Methodist Church of Little Rock.
