William Earl Mayhue

William Earl Mayhue, SFC US Army Ret., age 94, of Sulphur Springs, died Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in Sulphur Springs. He was born September 13, 1924, in Wooster to Grover Cleveland and Daisy Goforth Mayhue. He served in the US military for 22 years and was a veteran of WWII (medic, Okinawa), Korea (MP), and Vietnam (MACV, Kontum). His many awards included the Bronze Star. He assisted in building Devil's Den State Park while in the CCC. Earl was a marksman, weapons specialist, mechanic, fisherman, cattleman, bilingual (English, Vietnamese), and dedicated family man. Earl was one of 13 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Grover C. Mayhue. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and his wife, Helen A. (Tillery) Mayhue. He is survived by four children; two step-children; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A private family conducted service will be held at a later date.
