Barry Richard Witherspoon

Barry Richard Witherspoon, age 59, died of a sudden illness Saturday, October 22, 2016. He was born in Clovis N.M. on June 30th, 1957 to Gayland and Fredonia Witherspoon. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in Landscape Architecture and was a member of Pi Delta Theta Fraternity. Barry's career took him all over the world. He worked extensively in the Middle East, Africa and China. He was also an adjunct Professor at Clemson University in the Department of Landscape Architecture. Barry was engaged to marry Yen Yan Shen of Beijing, China and was looking forward to moving back to Fayetteville. Barry was a member of Fort Hill Church in Clemson, N.C. He was preceded in death by a nephew, John Bradley Witherspoon Jr. He is survived by his parents, Gayland and Fredonia Witherspoon, his brother, Dr. John Witherspoon, two children, Gavin and Ashley Witherspoon along with numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Please join us Friday, November 4th beginning at 4 p.m. at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville to celebrate Barry's life. Please join us to honor his memory and share stories.
