Elsie Katherine (Hansen) Rinn

Elsie Katherine (Hansen) Rinn, a long-time resident of the Fayetteville area, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2016 in Kerrville, Texas. Born Feb. 18, 1922 in Sidney, Mont. Elsie was one of 10 children born to Ernst Anker Jacob Hansen and Dagmar Caroline Clausen Hansen. Elsie met and married Raymond Rinn in 1942 in Lawton, Okla. After moving around the United States and spending time living in Okinawa while Raymond was in the military, the Rinns settled in Fayetteville, Ark., where they lived for nearly 60 years. They were well loved members of the Goshen community and founding members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Ark. Elsie worked as a typesetter and proofreader for the Northwest Arkansas Times before she opened her own upholstery and drapery business. She was an expert seamstress, making many wedding gowns, formal gowns and uniforms for the residents of NW Arkansas and also for the Arkansas Razorback drill team. She loved to read and did beautiful cross stitch angels for all of her loved ones. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church choir and dedicated many volunteer hours to the church. She was an Oklahoma tennis champion in her high school years at Lawton, Okla. and later learned to play racquetball and loved bowling. Elsie is predeceased by her husband, Raymond and son, John David Rinn. She is survived by her four daughters: Rae Jene and her husband, James; Patricia Susan; Janice Gail and her husband, Brad; and Lisa Marie and her husband, Randall; nine grandchildren: Katherine, Eric, Clay, Dawn, Michael, Lindsay, Jessica, Paige and Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
