Mary "Rene" Hoskins

Mary "Rene" Hoskins, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Cottages in Pella, Iowa. Mary Irene Hoskins was born in Salina, Kansas, to Ruby and Jess Dugan on June 9, 1930. She graduated from Marymount College in Kansas City, Kansas and received a degree in Medical Technology. Rene married Vernon Hoskins on June 5, 1954. With Vernon's employment, they lived in many cities across the United States: Kansas City, Missouri; Buffalo, New York; Davenport, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Appleton, Wisconsin; Rogers, Arkansas; Winchester, Kentucky; and Pella, Iowa Her children believe she was the best mom they could wish for. That feeling extended to how her grandchildren feel about her. She guided her children to Jesus and was responsible for many happy times and helped with the rare hard times. Rene always had a twinkle, smile, and sometimes a hilarious smirk. She was extremely creative; ranging from cooking, decorating, to various art forms. She enjoyed reading God's word and working in the church. When beloved husband, Vernon, retired, they moved to Rogers, Arkansas, and found ways to help others by managing the church food bank and counseling. She gave the people she met an example of striving to have a heart like Jesus. Those who will cherish her memory are her husband, Vernon, their two children: Stewart (Susan) Hoskins of Pella, Iowa; and Jan (Phil) Milheiser of Winchester, Kentucky; grandchildren: Jessica Hoskins of Orlando, Florida; Nichole Hoskins of Iowa City, Iowa; Monica (Josh) Zak; Paul (Bailey) Milheiser; December Milheiser of Winchester, Kentucky; great-grandchildren: Carson and Addie Zak; Abram Milheiser of Winchester, Kentucky.
