Veldon Lee Swafford

Veldon Lee Swafford, 77, of Elm Springs died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born April 28, 1938 in Saint Joe, Ark., to Walter and Ethel Stil Swafford. Veldon served in the Army. He enjoyed raising watermelons, peddling produce and wood working. He was an avid Razorback fan and retired from George's in 1984. He was preceded in death by his brother L.C. Swafford; a son, Williams Davidson Jr.; and a grandson, Travis Wayne Davidson. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Mefford) Swafford whom he married Nov. 5, 1976 in Henrietta, Okla.; two children, Sharon Barr and husband David of Elm Springs, and Dean Swafford and wife Darla of Lowell; a sister, Rita Purdy and husband Paul of Harrison; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Elm Springs Cemetery.
