Wilma Jean Hicks

Wilma Jean Hicks, 75, of Fayetteville, Ark., formerly of Booneville, Ark., passed away peacefully at her home in Fayetteville, Ark. on Aug. 6, 2015. She was born Oct. 19, 1939 to John Wilburn and Wilma Evelyn (Hammon) Prentice in Wardell, Mo. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Neal Hicks; her parents, John and Evelyn Prentice; brothers, James Wilburn Prentice, Larry Joe Prentice; and infant sister, Elizabeth Ann Prentice. Jean is survived by two daughters, Debra Jean Chalfant and Chuck Chalfant of Fayetteville, Ark., Cynthia Gaynell Taormino and husband, Pete of Morgan Hill, Calif. and one son, Herman Joe Hicks and wife, Deanne of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren: LaTasha Kirkland and husband, Josh, Christopher Chalfant, Jason and Jessica Taormino, and David and Nathan Hicks; three great-grandchildren: Jullian Rodriguez, Lily Ramirez, and Kingston Kirkland. Jean enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed traveling across the state of Arkansas as often as she could to visit family and the many friends she made during her early days living in and around Keiser, Dyess, and Lepanto. Jean made many new friends after moving to Booneville in 1971 and while working at Wolverine Toy, she would spend many hours talking on the phone to all of her friends and family which she loved very much. She was a very loving and kind woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family will visit with family and friends between 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 at Roberts Funeral Home at 127 W 4th Street, Booneville, AR 72927. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville, Ark. with Tracy Spencer officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Dennis Adair, Jimmy Fennell, John Prentice, Randy Prentice, Jerry Wayne Stafford, Steve Wall. Honorary Pallbearers: Christopher Chalfant, Jullian Rodriguez, David Hicks, Nathan Hicks, Logan Wall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any Hospice organization of your choice.
