Robert "Bob" S. Oliver, 86, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab in Rogers, Arkansas. Bob was born October 13, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Stephen M. Oliver and Catherine M. (Bagrowski) Oliver. Bob was married to his late wife, Virginia H. Oliver in 1950, they were married for 54 years until her death in August 2004. Bob and Ginny moved to Rogers in May of 1953. They enjoyed raising their four children on a little farm East of Rogers in the Prairie Creek area before the Beaver Lake was created in 1960. They then moved to another small farm, West of Rogers, where they lived for 44 years, cattle ranching and Ostrich farming. Bob enjoyed his life cattle ranching, fishing and taking many trips around the world with Ginny. Bob was President of Oliver Pipeline Construction Co. for 33 years, before retiring. Bob was always happiest when he was on his bulldozers and tractors. These past several years he greatly enjoyed going to the Senior Wellness Center, in Rogers, three times a week with his dear friends to exercise in the warm swimming pool. Bob made many contributions to Northwest Arkansas. He excavated ground works for the Bella Vista Country Club and many Wal-Mart stores, including the first Wal-Mart in Rogers. He also donated the land for the walking trail to the City of Rogers along Osage Creek. Bob was a Post WWII Veteran, serving for the Army in Korea before the War in 1946-1948. He was deployed to Inchan Landing in 1946, where he was to "locate Japanese soldiers" refusing to surrender. Bob is survived by his son, Steven Oliver of Fayetteville; three daughters, Marcie Oliver of Bella Vista, Gail McDonnell and husband, Tim of Parker, Colorado, Cynthia Oliver-Mustain and husband, David of Bella Vista; sister, Laverne Fecenko of Des Plaines, Illinois; five grandchildren, Christa Waters and husband, Eric of Fayetteville, Angela Oliver-Abiseid and husband, Victor of Fayetteville, Tonya Light and husband, Rick of Fayetteville, Shaunessy McDonnell of Parker, Colorado, Kaleigh McDonnell of Parker, Colorado; four great-grandchildren, Skyler Vanzant, Ava Waters, Brooke Ward and Eli Abiseid all of Fayetteville. He also leaves many special friends and one priceless little dog, Cricket. His funeral service will be on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11 a.m., in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Rogers Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
