Curtis James Abshire, 64, of Bentonville passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014. He was born March 5, 1950, in Buckeye, Ariz., to the late Delbert Earl and Janie Mayo Abshire. A longtime resident of Benton County, he was a member of the First Christian Church in Rogers and was a Mason. Whether it was camping, fishing, boating, skiing or gardening, he loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Connie Carter; and his stepson, Bryan Ewing. For more than 19 years he was the loving husband of Lori Ann Abshire, who survives; as do a son, Wesley Abshire of Fayetteville; a daughter, Tamara Lawson, and stepdaughter, Kim Ewing, both of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Jackie Abshire of Texas and Stanley Abshire of Highfill; six grandchildren, Levi and Dakota Matheson, Dylana Tilley, and Shanda, Samantha and Savannah Harmon; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24 at First Christian Church in Rogers.
