Irma Monette Thomson Watson passed away in Fayetteville, Ark., at the age of 97. She was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Danville, Ark., to parents W. Hatten Thomson and Clyde Sellars Thomson. She lived in Danville and attended school there until the age of 16 when the family moved to Fort Smith, and later lived 13 years in Oklahoma and then back to Arkansas where she lived until her death. Irma was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was active in all programs, including the music program which was her greatest love. She was secretary for 20 years for Community Concerts which was a program of Columbia Artists of New York. She was a lifetime member of Women's Missionary Service, later called Women's Society of Christian Service, and then United Methodist Women where she served as an officer in every position. She married Wilbur Watson in 1938, and he preceded her in death at the age of 95. Wilbur and Irma had two sons, Bob and Don Watson, who currently live in Fayetteville. She is survived by her sons; her grandson, Evan Watson; and her great-granddaughter, Trinity Watson; and a sister. The family will visit with friends from noon until service time at Wesley Chapel. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Wesley Chapel of Central United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
