Clarence Casey Callich, age 81, of Springdale, went to be with the Lord, on May 24, 2014, at the Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville. He was born June 23, 1932, in Henryetta, Okla., the son of Steven and Pearl Miller Callich. He served for 20 years and two months in the United States Army. During the Viet Nam Conflict, he was in a MASH Unit. He was a member of Cross Church (First Baptist Church ) of Springdale. Mr. Callich enjoyed hunting, traveling, camping, reading westerns, golf, and always enjoyed a good joke. He was the first male nurse at Springdale Memorial Hospital where he worked in the ER for 20 years. At the hospital, he was known as "Dr. Casey" to all of the children. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, and his wife and the love of his life for 53 years, Joyce Callich. The last 16 years of their marriage he devoted to being her caregiver. Mr. Casey was a regular customer of the Sunset Grill where he generally ate three meals a day since the death of his wife. The family would like to thank everyone who worked there for all of the love, kindness, and care that they gave to him. Also a special thanks from the family to the nursing staff at the North Hills Dialysis Clinic. Mr. Callich is survived by two sons, Greg Callich and his wife, Candy, of Springdale; and Brian Callich and his wife, KIimberly, of Lowell; one daughter, Kimberly Griffith and her husband, Paskell, of Springdale; one sister, Maryann DeVore of Kiefer, Okla.; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Weems and her husband, Noel Jr. of Rogers; eight grandchildren, Tyler Callich, Brandy Mitchell and Allen; Cherry Robinson and Nathan, Brittany Greer and Brad, Andrea Reese and Matt, Lindsay Cummings and Kevin, Amy Griffith and Shelby Griffith; four great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Rogers City Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Foster officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
