Louis Pete Wehlage

Louis Pete Wehlage, 91, of Fayetteville passed away April 30, 2014, at Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Garden Plains, Kan., to Joseph Wehlage and Rose Sommerhauser Wehlage. Louis served his country for 26 years in the United States Army, and was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He earned several awards, including seven Good Conduct medals and the Meritorious Service medal. He put his faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ and faithfully read his Bible every day. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Wehlage; two sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include his son, William Wehlage and wife, Karen, of Jay, Okla.; daughter, Rose Hendrix and husband, Terry, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Christopher Hendrix of Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Eric Wehlage of Jay, Okla., Lisa Hendrix of Fayetteville and Joseph Wehlage of Jay, Okla.; and several other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Beards Funeral Chapel. A family committal service will be held Monday at 10 a.m., with Chaplain (Major) U.S. Army Retired William Wehlage officiating. Burial will be at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel.
