James T. Pelton, age 79, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, in Fayetteville. He was born June 24, 1934, in Benton, Ark., to John R. Pelton Sr. and Muriel Couch Pelton. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. He retired from International Paper in Pine Bluff and was a member of the first Bryant High School football team in Bryant, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Pelton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ima Weaver Pelton; two sons, Tommy Pelton and his wife Dabney of Pine Bluff, Ark.; Danny Pelton and his wife Janet of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, John R. Pelton Jr. and his wife Frances of Benton, Ark.; Joe Pelton and his wife Carmen of Naples, Fla.; Sister in law, Phyllis Pelton of Benton, Ark.; five grandchildren, Hailey Pelton Easley and her husband Seth, Laurel Pelton Davenport and her husband Corey, Colin Pelton, Daniel Pelton, Sarah Pelton; two great-grandchildren, Austin Easley, William Davenport and special friends, Buddy Ritchie and his wife Donita. Visitation will be 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 21, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Douglas Falknor officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark., with Reverend Fred Arnold and Reverend Belinda Pelton Price officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the graveside service at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander, AR 72002.
