Ulde "Shorty" Edgar Provost, age 85, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with his Lord on Feb. 24, 2014. He was born July 31, 1928, in Killingly, Conn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Rose Cote Provost; a sister, Alena Provost; a brother, Sam Provost; and one son, Danny. Shorty leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Provost of the home; one brother, Norman and his wife, Delores, of Connecticut; two daughters, Linda Brule and her husband, Dennis, of Connecticut, and Patti Andrews and her husband, Jimmy, also of Connecticut; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Connecticut. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Carlene White of Maine, Shirley Roy and her husband, Dennis, of Florida, Jeff Ratliff and his wife, Debbie, of Springdale, Ark.; plus many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Maine, Maryland and Arkansas. Shorty served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Reserves. He was a heavy-equipment operator for the Union and retired after over 40 years. He enjoyed talking about heavy-equipment, especially big cranes. He loved watching baseball, NASCAR and Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, and even when Alzheimer's overtook him, he never forgot her, or his love for her. Graveside service will be Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery. Cremation was under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
