James Allen O'Brien, 68, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his home in Bella Vista. He was born on Oct. 23, 1945, in Stockbridge, Mass., to Lawrence A. O'Brien and Veronica Little O'Brien. He received his certified director of safety from the University of Central Florida. He received his commercial pilot form Embry-Riddle Aeronautical from the University of Wyoming. He was a Highway Patrol-Accident investigation, Federal Highway Administration Transportation Hazardous Materials and spill recovery. He was a Transportation Safety Specialist for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Jane E. O'Brien of Bella Vista, Ark.; one son, Michael O'Brien of Deltona, Fla.; one daughter, Suzanne O'Brien of Longmont, Colo.; four stepchildren, James Stahl of Geneseo, Ill., Deborah Meline of Mountain Home, Ark., Bill Stahl of Bella Vista, Ark., Ron Stahl of Hillsdale, Ill.; four brothers, Lawrence O'Brien Jr. of Housatonic, Mass., Gary O'Brien of Greenville, Maine, Robert O'Brien of Greenville, Maine, Patrick O'Brien of Williamsburg, Va.; three sisters, Cathy O'Brien (Fletcher) of Sheffield, Mass., Mae O'Brien of Great Barrington, Mass., Lynn O'Brien (Chevser) of Great Barrington, Mass. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark., with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Reed officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, 12 W. Sunbridge Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
