James William Ledbetter

James was born on Aug. 7, 1938, in Huntsville, Ark., a son of William Robert Ledbetter and Alpha Edith Boyd Ledbetter. James worked for Arkola Sand and Gravel from 1971 to 2006 in their maintenance department. He was a deacon of the New Horizon Freewill Baptist Church, enjoyed reading Westerns by Louis L'Amour, loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a U.S. Army veteran. James is survived by two sons, Richard and wife, Breda Ledbetter, of Hope Mills, N.C., and Craig and wife, Adrienne Ledbetter, of Prairie Grove, Ark.; three daughters, Martha and husband, Larry Horton, of Lincoln, Ark., Donna and husband, Ted Stiles, of Springdale, and Linda and husband, Robert Weiser, of San Antonio, Texas; an honorary son and daughter, Mike and Teresa Mayo of Springdale; one brother, Jerry and wife, Susan Ledbetter, of Colorado; one sister, Virgie Guthrie of Ontario, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Ledbetter; and by his second wife, Lola Ledbetter; along with two sisters, Verda Turner and Jeannie Sloan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. Brother Howard Garrett and Brother Lynn Crawford will officiate the service, with burial being conducted at the Bluff Cemetery.
