Nancy Thompson

Nancy Thompson, 78, a longtime elementary teacher and principal, died on Aug, 4, 2014, in Blacksburg, Va., after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and dementia. Nancy was born in Fayetteville, Ark., graduated from Rogers High School in 1954, and received B.A. and M.A. degrees from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. She lived and taught in Rogers, Ark., New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, including Abilene Christian Schools. In 1958, Nancy married Gary Thompson and was his beloved companion throughout their 56 years of married life. Nancy is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Tom (Beth) of Christiansburg, Va., and Jane (Chuck) Koble of Cedar Park, Texas; granddaughters, Amee, Sarah, Emily and Ava; and sisters, Jerrie Lynch (twin) and Mary Lou Lewis of Rogers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Jewel (Anderson) Thomas; brother, Marshall; and sister, Betty Foster. Interment will be at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, followed by a memorial service at University Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends contribute to Christian Homes and Family Services (of Abilene) or Abilene Christian Schools.
