Robert Cline Lane Jr.

Robert Cline Lane Jr., aged 72, passed Easter morning at his home. Bob leaves behind his wife, Carole; five children, Bobby, Andy, Alisson, Meredith and Patrick; and eight grandchildren, Sly, Alex, Felix, Hayden, Gage, Ruby, Henry and Arlo. A man known for his sense of humor, we wish we could say this is another of his pranks, like the time he called in sick to play a bit part in the filming of "The Blue and the Gray." But regrettably it is not. Bob was born in 1941 in Springdale, where he graduated high school and worked for his father in the Springdale Amusement Parlor. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech and the University of Arkansas, Vietnam veteran, dedicated civil servant for the state of Arkansas, accomplished potter and enthusiastic photographer. Above all he loved spending time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was drinking coffee at Arsaga's with his buddies and reading books. His bright smile, earnest and caring worldview, and penchant for a good story will be sorely missed. A memorial will be held at Arsaga's at the Depot July 5 from 5-9 p.m. Remembrances can be addressed to the Fayetteville Public Library or Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.
